Old Blue Dresser makeover

"Look What I did With an Old Blue Dresser"

So I thought I would Share with You all This Transformation I Did With an OLD BLUE DRESSER I Had Laying around in the Basement for a couple of years, Just not knowing what I would Do with it....
I Tried to Convince many of my friends that I would make something out of it for them But when I showed it to them They just didn't see what I saw, All they saw was this Junky old BLUE pile of junk with the paint peeling off it....AHHH! But I saw the beauty behind that blue peeling paint and I decided to finally do something about it.
So this is what I did...........................

The drawers were already out of the dresser only because I used them in another project.. They were kinda falling apart anyway....plus I had already started sanding the top when I took this picture :)

STEP 1......

 I Sanded the top down to the bare wood... This took several sanding disks since there was quite a few layers of paint on the dresser...Since I didn't want to have 3 Shelves I removed all the rungs on the front that the shelves ran on and added a rung in the front and back half way . Once the rungs were attached I thought it needed something along the top that was decorative so I penciled out a design on a piece of wood and cut it out with my jigsaw. once I had the look that I wanted I filled all the holes with wood putty and let dry and then sanded  down the rest. I didn't worry about getting all the paint off these parts since I was going to prime and paint it anyway.. I just made sure it was smooth and level..

STEP 2........

Before I painted the frame I cut several slats 3/4" thick from a few 2x6 pieces of scrap wood I had lying around and cut them all the same length for the shelves...Once I had acquired the right amount I needed to fit the area I removed them, stained them with Early American Stain from Minwax and set them aside to dry....I then went back and painted the inside and outside of the dresser with a Satin Black paint leaving the top untouched... once it was dry I distressed the edges to reveal some of the bare wood.... The top I then stained with the Early American Stain to match the shelves... Once dry I gave the top 3 coats of Satin Clear coat and 2 coats to the shelf slats... when the clear coat was finally dry I then attached with my nail gun the slats to the front and back rungs to make my shelves.

STEP 3..........

So Then once the Cabinet was made I thought It needed some bins to just set it off and also allow some storage... So I took a neat looking Drawer I had left from another dresser and Cut it in half to make 2 Bins... I had to replace the sides, cut and tweak it a little, But I just love the look of the front of this drawer.

I then Sanded, Painted and Distressed the front of the drawers and then 

 I added some cool Stainless Steal Handles to the front....

And Here it is the finished product....I think It would be perfect as a TV Stand for someone But I guess you could use it for almost anything..:)

Way too Hot for This time of Year! Stay Cool Y'All

The Temps Have been Crazy for this time of year... Our air conditioner "Bit the dust" Yesterday with This HEAT WAVE  that we have been Having... temps have been in the 100's... I just can't push my self to leave the house, and I have so much to do....We Did end up buying a new Air Con unit though and I can already feel the difference from the old one that has been in this house since we bought it...Well Overdue I say!...

We did get some rain Yesterday but not enough to do any good.... My Grass looks like a Patch work quilt and My Garden that I just got to start looking good is starting to wilt... I guess I'll have to Face the Heat and Go save what's left of it..:(

OK so I'm Back from watering my Garden and my plants looked rather Thirsty... I took some before pics and here they are..;(

 MY PINK HYDRANGEA'S Pretty much burnt to a crisp..:( and they looked so pretty this year.

And Yes there is my PATCH WORK YARD....we definitely need some serious rain..

Well so now that I have watered my Garden I am seriously thinking about going and Tackling the basement and trying to get it cleaned up so I can do some of my Crafting down there since it is way Too HOT to do anything outside today!

Just wasn't meant to be

Hello, 
So Here we Go On My first ever Blog... I hope it goes well...UGH! I normally have a lot to say but right now I'm at a loss for words.... Well I guess I'll Start with Telling you about my weekend...
Well we just got our Camper back from the Dealer and we were all so excited about Taking it to Rend Lake this weekend for the 4th of July Fireworks Display they were Having over the water.. Well we went Friday afternoon after My Husband Got home from work and Drove Down to sus out the spots that may be available, well when we got there Most of the spots were already Reserved..:(. Which we thought that with it being so hot and I mean hotter that I have ever seen it at this time of year..(like temps have been reaching over 100 Degrees Celsius Hot..Yikes! That most people would cancel and we might get lucky on a spot) But No I guess people are just as Crazy as we are... So then we decided to go see if the Non-reservable sites on the other side of the Lake were filled up, and By chance there were quite a few spots still available so we decided to come early in the morning and set up the Camper....
A Disappointing dilemma:
Next morning we Had everything set to go, Kids in the Truck and were about to leave when My Husbands looks down at his Back rear Right Tire and notices a considerable amount of oily substance.:( Not Good... Looks like a wheel bearing... so we didn't want to chance it especially when we had a long drive and a heavy load on the back.."Can't Chance that wheel falling off" so we just decided to stay home...:( My Girls were quite disappointed but we Made the most of the weekend and Had a cookout with Family members over and we Stayed cool in the pool.... So I guess it was just meant to be.... we still Have a lot of summer left so there will be a lot more Camping Days on Our Calendar....Oh and even though we missed the Fireworks Saturday at Rend Lake They are still having the Fireworks here in Town Wednesday On The 4th...
